How to Apply and Access ERAS Supplemental Application?

What is ERAS?

Eras [full form – Electronic Residency Application Service] streamlines the residency application process for applicants, their designated dean’s offices, letter of recommendation (LOR) writers and program directors. By offering applicants the ability to create and distribute their application and supporting materials individually or as a package of programs, ERAS provides a centralized, but flexible solution to the residency application and document delivery process.

What is ERAS Application?

ERAS consists of four individual, but linked, applications developed to meet the needs of each user group involved in the application process and serve to provide an unbiased, confidential broadcast of applications to programs.

  • MyERAS for applicants, in which students complete their applications. They select programs, submit supporting documents, and submit their materials to their chosen programs.
  • There are Dean’s Office Work Centers (DWS) for designated Dean’s Offices for uploading Medical School Transcripts and Medical School Performance Appraisals (MSPEs) in support of applications submitted through MyERAS.
  • Letter of Recommendation Portal (LORP) is available for LOR authors to submit letters in support of applications submitted through MyERAS.
  • Program Directors are the Work Center (PDWS) for training programs to receive and review applications and supporting documents.

What is ERAS Supplemental Application?

The supplemental ERAS application has been introduced by the AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges) as part of ongoing efforts to improve the myERAS application. It includes new questions that help applicants to demonstrate their interests and experiences in the programmes. This information will help residency programs better understand how applicants’ interests and experiences align with their program’s environment, mission, and goals.

The supplementary application is separate and distinct from the standard MyERAS application. Your participation in the supplemental application is optional. It will be administered online and will have three sections.

Who is Eligible for supplemental ERAS application?

ERAS Supplemental Application eligibility – There will be no fee for Supplementary ERAS application. Applicants of the 2023 ERAS cycle who are applying for residency status in the following 16 specialities. you must check out the below.

How to access ERAS Supplemental Application?

Follow the given procedure to access the supplementary application.

Confirming Your Email – When you create your AAMC account or log in to a previous AAMC account with your ERAS token. So you have to verify that your email address is correct in the My AAMC Profile tab in the MyERAS application. The Supplementary ERAS Application Invitation and subsequent reminders will be sent by August 1 to the email address you provided in your profile. And this email address will be used for all emails related to the Supplementary ERAS application, even if you update it after August.

Accessing the Supplemental Application

The supplementary ERAS application process will be initiated when an applicant uses their token from their designated Dean’s office to register for the 2023 ERAS season in the MyERAS application.

All applicants who have registered in the MyERAS application, regardless of the specifications they intend to apply for, receive an invitation to complete the supplementary ERAS application. But completing the Supplemental ERAS Application is optional.

  1. AAMC has started sending email invitations on August 1, 2022. Applicant’s emails are sent from the email address SupPERASApp@aamc.org.
  2. Applicants must register an ERAS token before 11:59 p.m. ET on Sept. 14 to receive invitations.
  3. Invitation emails are sent daily (Monday to Friday) from August 1 to September 15 to applicants who have registered AAMC ERAS tokens.
  4. AAMC will also send regular reminder emails between August 8 and September 15 or until you submit the supplementary application.
  5. AAMC will also send a confirmation email after you have submitted the supplementary application.

Do not share your personal link received over email with the supplemental application with others as they will have access to your personal information.

How to Apply for ERAS Supplemental Application?

  • To apply for ERAS Supplemental Application, you must create your account on MyERAS and confirm your email through the link. when it is confirmed, you can get the application link from the ‘SupPERASApp@aamc.org’ email address.
  • Open the Application link in your Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safar browser.
  • Then, open Email and Confirming Your AAMC ID.
  • After that, Fill out the Application with the required details.
  • Click on the Submit Button.
