Low-income families in Houston can now complete the application process to receive $375 per month for a year for a pilot program. Here Mayor Sylvester Turner announced a pilot program offering 110 families $375 per month for a year, totalling $4,500.
It is part of the Houston Fund for Social Justice and Economic Equity which was created after the death of George Floyd and in partnership with Mayors for Guaranteed Income.
The mayor’s office says the pilot targets ten residents of historically disadvantaged Houston neighbourhoods who have experienced homelessness, are in the justice system or have health concerns that impair their ability to earn an income. .
